Research Interests
I am interested in how the interactions between plants and insects (such as herbivory, florivory, frugivory, and pollination) have led to the divergence of both plant and insect populations and the evolution of new species. My current work is with the native Agromyzid fly, Phytomyza glabricola, and its two native holly host species, Ilex glabra and Ilex coriacea. I am trying to determine whether the leafminer is forming host races on these two hollies, and if hybridization in the hollies may have contributed to the initial host expansion.
